Practice Team

Operations Manager – Leah Bratherton

Oversees the day to day running of Toft Road Surgery.

Receptionists

Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.

Secretaries

The secretaries support the practice with any administrative and secretarial tasks.  They deal with patient queries regarding hospital and choose and book referrals.

Prescription Clerks

The Prescription clerks are the main point of contact for Patient enquiries about their prescriptions. They work with our GPs to provide a responsive repeat prescription service. They also take on other important tasks such as bringing any queries to the attention of the relevant doctor, to include under and over usage and expedite urgent prescriptions to help ensure a safe and responsive service for patients.

Work Flow Optimisers

The aim of a workflow optimiser is too process letters which arrive electronically or hard copy, in the most efficient way for both the patient and the medical and admin staff. When these letters arrive in whichever form, the optimiser adds them to the patients records and codes conditions and procedures. These codes follow a nationwide system and are used to provide the most efficient care. The optimiser then decides if the document needs to be viewed by the medical or admin staff. Certain documents are always sent to a medic,  eg, those for under 16 or those patients in a nursing home. It is an ever evolving role and reduces GP workload.

Care Co-ordinators

Their main role is to try and stop emergency admissions for the at risk, elderly, vulnerable patients at the practice and to follow up with a call after an emergency admission.  They are essential for signposting to various community clinics, including referrals to falls prevention, social services, community nursing team, community pharmacy, Intermediate Care, Mental Health Reablement.
